A date in Louisville: Girls relay team and high jumper heading to state

It was regional Saturday for the Owen County High school girl’s track team.
The team headed to Danville over the weekend where they competed in the Class A Region 5 Meet at Admiral Stadium.
As a team, the Lady Rebels placed eighth.
The 4x800-meter relay team of Emily Bibb, Samantha Tamplin, Mikala Byers and Amber Gover finished second as did Haley DeCandia in the high jump to qualify for the state meet Thursday through Saturday at the University of Louisville. Also representing the Lady Rebels will be Autumn Gover, Ashley Byers and Nicole Jacobs as part of the relay team.
Other results from the meet include Andi Burford and Emily Allen placing eighth and ninth in the 100-meter dash. The pair also finished seventh and 11th in the 200-meter dash.
Amber Gover finished sixth in the 400-meter dash with Michaela Gibson seventh. Samantha Tamplin and Mikala Byers finished ninth and 12th in the 800-meter. The same two also placed seventh and 10th in the 1600-meter run.
Gover and Bibb placed seventh and eighth in the 3200-meter run.
Jacobs finished eighth in the 100-meter hurdles and seventh in the 300-meter hurdles.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Allen, Ashley Byers, Gibson and Burford placed fourth while the 4x200-meter relay team Allen, Burford, Gibson and DeCandia finished fifth. Jessica Willhoite, Jacobs, Veronica Chisholm and Gibson placed seventh in the 4x400-meter relay.
In the field events, it was Hannah Strohmeier finish eighth and Karlee Marie came in ninth in the shot put.
Ashley Williams and Suzanna Cooke finished eighth and ninth in the discus.
Chisholm finished seventh in the long jump while her teammate Willhoite placed eighth.
Kailen Sizemore finished eighth and Willhoite ninth in the triple jump.
Danville won the meet with Frankfort finishing second.
The Class A State Meet will be held Thursday through Saturday at the University of Louisville.
