Owen County boys track team sending 11 to state meet

Several members of the Owen County High School boys track team are headed to Louisville.
The team spent Saturday in Danville competing in the Class A Region 5 Track Meet. It was a successful day for the team as they finished third overall.
The team will be sending 11 individuals to the state track meet Thursday through Saturday at the University of Louisville.
Collin Trammel won the 200-meter dash and the long jump and grabbed a place at the state meet in both events.
Trammel currently has the second fastest 200-meter time among Class A runners.
Bobby Mingie won the 400-meter dash to get a berth in the statewide competition.
Hunter Trenary finished third in the 3200-meter run to qualify while Darian Polley earned his trip to Louisville with a fourth-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles. Daniel Cummins placed third in the discus while Cooper Taylor tied for second in the high jump to punch their tickets to next weekend.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Polley, Mingie, Trammel and Paul Banks finished second to qualify.
Chris Smith, Nathan Rivera, Taylor and Michael Wash will also be a part of the relay team.
Other results from Saturday include Smith finishing 12th and 11th in the 100-meter and 200-meter dash.
Ben Allen placed 15th in the 400-meter dash while Logan Bilter placed 11th in the 800-meter run.
Trenary finished sixth in the 1600-meter run with Cory Hudnall coming in seventh. Hudnall also finished seventh in the 3200-meter run.
Polley placed fifth in the 110-meter hurdles with Avery Gover finishing eighth. Gover would also finish ninth in the 300-meter hurdles.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Taylor, Gover, Banks and Cummins finished sixth while the 4x800-meter relay team of Bitler, Hudnall, Rivera and Trenary placed sixth.
Cummins and Willie Johnson finished fifth and 11th in the shot put.
Wash finished 10th in the discus while Cody Downey finished sixth and Evan Lozier came in eighth place in the triple jump.
The Rebels will travel to Louisville for the state track meet this weekend at Owsley Frazier Park on the campus of the University of Louisville.
