Cross Country competes in two meets

The Owen County cross county team took the course twice last week. The team competed at Carroll County before taking part in the Franklin County Invitational at the Kentucky Horse Park on Saturday.

Eighth-grader Julie Spaulding finished fifth at General Butler State Resort Park in Carrollton. Amber Gover ran well for the Lady Rebels finishing 11th while Haley DeCandia captured 14th place. Megan Barnes finished 19th while Kelsey Johnson and Maggie Barnes finished 23rd and 24th respectively.

The boys’ race saw Josh Alford finish 28th.

On Saturday at the Horse Park, Danielle Hoop was the best finisher for the Lady Rebels. The sophomore captured 12th place. Spaulding finished 148th in a race that featured almost 300 competitors. Gover, Decandia, Morgan Walker and Johnson also ran in the meet.

The teams were back in action on Monday as they took part in the King Louis XIV race at Walton.
