A man driving a tri-axle dump truck filled with asphalt on Ky. Hwy. 355 wrecked Monday morning.
Kentucky State Police Trooper Seth Willis said the Kentucky State Police were notified of the accident at 10 a.m.
“Wesley H. Simpson of Stanford, Ky. was traveling South on Hwy. 355 when the vehicle began to leave the right side of the road,” Willis said. “He apparently cut the wheel hard to the left, which caused the truck to flip, spilling asphalt all over the road.”
Willis said Simpson, 28, was flown from the scene with a severe head injury.
“He was not wearing his seat belt,” Willis said. “Trooper Tim Vinyl, who worked the scene, called to check on him several hours later and was told that he was on watch care but there was no indication of whether or not he was in ICU.”
Willis said Ky. Hwy. 355 was closed for four hours while crews cleaned the asphalt from the road.
