Crash claims life of Owen man

An Owen County man is dead after a single vehicle crash Sunday afternoon on Highway 607 in Owen County. 
Joseph Nunnelley, 36, of Owenton, was traveling south on Highway 607 at 1:45 p.m. when the vehicle he was driving left the roadway for unknown reasons and hit a tree, according to Kentucky State Police Post 5 Public Affairs Officer Brad Arterburn.
Nunnelley was pronounced dead at the scene by the Owen County Coroner. 
Arterburn said Nunnelley was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
A passenger in the vehicle, 24-year-old Echo Cummins of Owenton, was transported by Air Methods, Inc. to the University of Kentucky Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Trooper Dusty Corbin, an accident reconstructionist, is leading the ongoing investigation.
Trooper Corbin was assisted at the scene by the Monterey Fire Department, New Liberty Fire Department, Owen County Rescue and Owen County Life Squad, according to Arterburn.
