Weather spotters class
Owen County will have a weather spotters class tonight (Wednesday) at 6:30 p.m. at the Owenton and Owen County Volunteer Fire House at 404 South Main Street. 
All Owen County residents are welcome to attend this class.  It will teach the basic information on weather.

Shooting sports sign-ups to end
The last chance to sign up for this year’s Owen County 4-H Shooting Sports Club will be at the March 25 meeting.
The meeting will be held at the Owen County Extension Office at 7 p.m.

All Pro Dads to meet March 27
The next All Pro Dad meeting will be March 27 at 7:30 a.m. in the MBMS multi-purpose room.  All middle school students are invited to attend with their dad, grandfather, uncle, or guardian.  Breakfast is provided and the event is free.  You can RSVP at www.allprodad.com/3536. Commonwealth Cleanup Week will be held throughout the state of Kentucky March 16-23.

Using scarves to be focus of lesson
The Owen County Extension Office will be having a lesson on “Sprucing Up Your Wardrobe With Scarves” on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.
Everyone is welcome to attend.

Parks and Rec. to hold egg hunt
The Owen County Parks and Recreation Activity Committee along with several local churches will host a community Easter egg hunt.  All children pre-school  through fifth grade are invited.  
The Easter egg hunt will take place Saturday from 1-4 p.m. at the Owen County Park and Fairgrounds.  Activities will include a petting zoo, inflatables, crafts, games and the hunt at no charge to the children.  
Pictures with the Easter Bunny and face painting by Beka’s Toppers will also be available.

Dates set for Owen County kindergarten registration
The Owen County School District will hold registration for kindergarten students April 19 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and May 10 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Owen County Primary School.
Children who will turn 5 before Oct. 1, 2013 are eligible to attend kindergarten.

An original birth certificate is required at the time of registration .
Before a child is placed in a class parents will need to submit the child’s certificate of immunization, physical examination, dental examination and eye examination.

KPS to hold checkpoints
The Kentucky State Police will be conducting traffic safety checkpoints in the counties of Oldham, Trimble, Henry, Owen, Carroll and Gallatin during the period of March 25 through April 8.
The intent of a traffic safety checkpoint is to provide for high visibility public safety service, focusing on vehicular equipment deficiencies, confirming appropriate registration of vehicles and the licensing of drivers.  Violations of law shall be addressed in accordance with regulatory laws.
