Library to hold March Madness Teen Book Tournament
Teens, vote for your favorite young adult books as they face off against each other in March Madness.
Each week, there will be a new round of voting and for each round you vote, you will be entered to win a prize.
You can vote in the library or on the library’s Facebook page throughout the entire month.

Library to present Wreck-It-Ralph
Wreck-It-Ralph will be presented Thursday from 5:30 until 7 p.m. as part of the Owen County Public Library’s Free Movie Night.
The movie is rated PG and everyone is invited to attend.

Easter bazaar to be held
There will be an Easter bazaar Saturday at the Odd Fellows Lodge across from the Owen County Courthouse from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
There will be an Easter egg hunt at 1 p.m. on the courthouse lawn for ages 10 and under. Pictures with the Easter Bunny will also be available.
Vendors will include Thirty-One, Design by Alice (pottery), Mary Kay. Gold Canyon Candles, Paparazzi, Shashay Yarn Scarfs and others.
All proceeds and donations benefit Project Graduation Class of 2013.

Youth soccer league to hold 5K
The OCYSL will be having a 5K Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at the Monterey soccer fields.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers for male and female. There will also be prizes for the top three finishers both male and female in the following age groups: 15 and younger, 16-21, 22-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60, 60 and older.

Learn more about technology at library
The Owen County Public Library will hold Teen Tech Projects Saturday at 2 p.m.
Teens will get a chance to use the library’s new technology to make projects including photo editing technology to place people anywhere including book scenes, personalized Post-It notes and bookmarks.

Cleanup week is March 16-23
Commonwealth Cleanup Week will be held throughout the state of Kentucky March 16-23.

Medicare 101 workshop to be held
The Owen County Public Library will present Medicare 101 Monday from 6 until 7 p.m.
Luke Boemker from the Senior Insurance Brokerage will be at the library to help people to navigate the Medicare maze.
Learn the difference between a supplement and an advantage plan, how to apply, and more.

Advanced quilting class continues
The advanced quilting class will meet again on Tuesday at the Owen County Extension Office at 6 p.m.

Scarves to be focus of lesson
The Owen County Extension Office will be having a lesson on “Sprucing Up Your Wardrobe With Scarves” on March 20  at 1:30 p.m.
Everyone is welcome to attend.

Parks and rec. to hold Easter egg hunt
The Owen County Parks and Recreation Activity Committee along with several local churches will host a community Easter egg hunt.  All children pre-school  through fifth grade are invited.  
The Easter egg hunt will take place March 23, from 1-4 p.m. at the Owen County Park and Fairgrounds.  Activities will include a petting zoo, inflatables, crafts, games and the hunt at no charge to the children.  
Also available pictures with the Easter Bunny and face painting by Beka’s Toppers.

All Pro Dads to meet March 27
The next All Pro Dad meeting will be March 27 at 7:30 am in the MBMS multi-purpose room.  All middle school students are invited to attend with their dad, grandfather, uncle, or guardian.  Breakfast is provided and the event is free.

Dates set for Owen County kindergarten registration
The Owen County School District will hold registration for kindergarten students April 19 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and May 10 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Owen County Primary School.
Children who will turn 5 before Oct. 1, 2013 are eligible to attend kindergarten.

An original birth certificate is required at the time of registration.
 together with a pertinent guardianship and/or custody paper when applicable.
Before a child is placed in a class parents will need to submit the child’s certificate of immunization, physical examination, dental examination and eye examination.
