The National Soccer Coaches Association of America has named the 2008 winners of the Team Academic Awards and once again the Owen County Rebels have made the list.

The list includes only those teams with a minimum grade-point average of 3.25 for the entire academic year. For Coach Jerry Doolin, his team’s GPA was 3.30. Only four other boys teams qualified for the award. They were Danville, Owensboro, St. Xavier and Trinity. It is the 11th year in a row the Rebels have made the list.

Not only was the team recognized for collective achievement, but one player in particular was honored.

Clayton Cook was named to the 2008 NSCAA/Adidas High School Boys Scholar All-South Region team. Cook joins players from all over the South including North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia and Maryland.
