As the deadline to file for the May primary elections approached Tuesday afternoon, it appears many of Owen County’s sitting officials will not be challenged for re-election during the May primary election.

Tuesday afternoon, a challenger filed against incumbent Owen County Judge-executive Carolyn Keith when Horace  "Doug" West filed just before the deadline.

Candidates had until the Owen County Clerk’s office closed Tuesday to file papers.

In a related story, incumbent district #2 magistrate Bobby Gaines filed papers with Owen County Clerk Joan Kincaid to formally withdraw from the primary.
