Bro. Adam’s message was from Matthew 3:13-17 on the baptism of Jesus. Jesus was baptized to identify with us, to be obedient to God, and to serve as an example for us. Baptism does not save us, only acceptance of Jesus Christ through faith saves us. However, baptism is the first step in obedience to Christ after we accept Him through faith. We rejoice with Stacey and Jason as they have expressed their faith in Christ and followed in obedience with baptism.
After morning message we shared fellowship meal as this was our pastor’s last day with us. We regret that he is leaving but he feels he needs to devote time to studies and family as he continues to prepare for what the Lord has planned for him in the future. Bro. Adam is a wonderful proclaimer of the word of God and we will pray for him and wish the best for him and his family.
The evening service was from Mark 2:18-22 on hindrances to experiencing God. Often Christians can be like the Pharisees and just go through the motions, leaving the heart out of worship. Another hindrance is not living out the joy of our salvation. We have victory over sin, death, and satan as we feast on the word of God. Also, too often we hang on to the past sin or tradition and not let Jesus do a new work in us.
Pray for our church as we seek the one God is preparing to lead us. Pray for our county, state, and country leaders. Pray for Kim Furnish’s family. Pray for the sick and for one another.
Sunday morning we will have a Gideon speaker. The work of the Gideons is amazing as they spread God’s word to the world through placement of Bibles.
