Motorists will have to find an alternate route for a few weeks as a decades old bridge in rural northern Owen County is being replaced.
Owen County Road Supervisor Greg Smoot said the bridge on the Sparta/New Liberty Road over Two Mile Creek is being replaced because of safety concerns.
Smoot said the existing bridge was built from remnants of a bridge upstream that washed down during some flooding in the early 1960s.
“The existing bridge had washed out so it was rebuilt from materials from another bridge from upstream,” Smoot said.
