Boys team take All ‘A’ championship

The Owen County High School boy’s golf team is headed to the State All ‘A’ Golf Tournament.
The boys captured the Eighth Region All ‘A’ Championship Aug. 23 at Fairway Golf Course in Wheatley.
The team shot 335 to beat Carroll County by three shots and Walton-Verona by six.
Justin Trusty led the Rebels with a 74 while Zach Ripy fired a 78. Jordan Prather carded a 91. Cole Hamilton shot a 92 and Austin Fitzgerald came in with a 93.
Jacob Poore from Walton-Verona had the best round of the day shooting 72 to also qualify for the state tournament.
The Rebels will now head to Somerset Sept. 8 for the state tournament which will be contested at Eagles Nest Golf Course.
Saint Mary won last year’s event.
