BMS track team shines at Western Hills

The Bowling Middle School track team was in action April 29. The team took part in the Western Hills Middle School meet in Frankfort.

In the girls meet, Haley DeCandia finished ninth in the 400-meter dash while Maggie Barnes placed 23rd.

In the 800-meter run it was Alicia Garvey placing ninth. Garvey also ran well in the 1600-meter as she finished sixth.

DeCandia ran to a fifth place finish in the 100-meter hurdles with Ashley Tyler finishing 11th. The 4x400-meter relay team finished sixth.

DeCandia placed third in the high jump while Garvey came in 17th.

Ashley Tyler was 10th in the shot put with Autumn Gover and Barnes finishing 21st and 22nd.

Barnes placed 20th in the long jump.

In the javelin, Autumn Gover finished 19th and Barnes finished 20th. Gover finished 17th in the discus.

For the boys, Corey Cobb finished the 400-meter dash in second place. Cody Downey finished 14th in the 1600-meter run.

In the 100-meter hurdles, it was Dakota Pence who finished ninth. The 4x400-meter relay team finished fifth.

Dalton Mears and Brandon Tyler each had good showings in the discus finishing 13th and 15th.

In the javelin, Downey placed seventh and Pence placed 14th.

Cobb jumped to a fifth-place finish in the long jump while Downey and Pence came in 11th and 20th. Dalton Mears had a fifth-place finish in the shot put while Brandon Tyler finished eighth.
