Extension Service News with Kim Strohmeier

All Owen County cattle producers and their families are invited to attend the next Cattlemen’s Association meeting, to be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the extension office.
The program, “A Taste of Beef,” will focus on the end use of the product you sell. Supper will include an assortment of beef recipes, so if you enjoy eating beef, you’ll love this program.
However, it’s going to be important that we know how many folks to prepare for, so today you will need to call the extension office for reservations at (502) 484-5703.

Grill master extraordinaire

Grills are great for cooking hamburgers and steaks. Unfortunately, many people stop there.
An entire gourmet meal can be prepared on a grill, or using other outdoor cooking equipment, including any assortment of meat or vegetables, and even desserts.
If you are interested in becoming the next grillmeister of your community, with the reputation of being a great outdoor chef, we’ve got a series of programs designed for you.
The Owen, Gallatin, and Carroll counties’ extension services will hold a series of evening programs demonstrating some uses of the grill. The first one will start at 6:30 p.m. June 16 at the Owen office. The topic will be direct grilling.
Future programs in the series will be indirect grilling and other methods of outdoor cooking.
Because a large meal will be provided, preregistration will be required at the extension office. You can register by calling 484-5703.
There will be a limit to the number of people accepted, so if you are interested, call early. Deadline for registration is Tuesday afternoon, June 14.
Sorry, but we will not be able to accept registrations after the deadline.
