The 2012 Junior Olympics National Championships for judo drew 663 competitors from across the United States to the Irving Convention Center, Irving, Texas, July 19-21.
The 2012 International Junior Olympics were held at the same venue the following day for 249 competitors from around the world. Competitors earn points from both events toward national ranking.
Owen County High School students Robert Beverly, James Thompson, and Zac Widener competed in both events.
Competition was at its toughest this year with as many as 23 athletes in some divisions.
