If not for bad luck, the Owen County High School Lady Rebels would have no luck at all.
The team hosted Oldham County Friday night in Owenton.
After falling behind early, the Lady Rebels rallied to cut the deficit to 14-7 with just seconds left in the opening quarter.
Instead of carrying some positive feelings into the second quarter it proved to be just enough time for the Lady Colonels. Oldham County caught the inbounds pass and launched a heave from 70 feet at the buzzer that hit nothing but net to push the lead to 17-7.
The Lady Colonels would use the momentum to extend their advantage to 35-17 at halftime.
From there, the Lady Colonels would go on to win the game 60-36.
Freshman Morgan Ellis had a big night for Owen County as she scored 15 points to lead the way. Kaylee Miller added 7 points while A.J. Gravely finished with 6 points. Molly Gamble tossed in 4 points while pulling down seven rebounds. Destinee Epperson and Macie Osborne each finished with 2 points.
The team will be back at home on Friday night as they host Trimble County. The Lady Rebels will play at 6:30 p.m. followed by the boys taking on Carroll County at 8 p.m.
They will then travel to Walton-Verona on Monday night to take on the Lady Bearcats.
