ATM withdrawal leads to arrests

-A A +A
By Molly Haines

Three men from Owen County are behind bars after allegedly stealing an ATM in Franklin County.
The incident took place June 18 when, according to Franklin County Sheriff Pat Melton, the three allegedly stole a backhoe from a construction site on East Main Street in Frankfort and used it to remove a Kentucky Employees Credit Union ATM.
“They took the whole thing,” Melton said. “All that’s left is a concrete pad.”
Information from an Owen County Sheriff’s Deputy led Franklin County authorities to find the ATM in Monterey three days after the theft, Melton said.
