Annual golf event ready to tee off

-A A +A

The 15th annual Charlie Satterwhite Memorial Golf Shamble is almost ready to tee off to help raise money and awareness for Owen County senior citizens and the Trust for Life Program.
The namesake of the event, Owen County’s Circuit Court Judge Charles Satterwhite was a victim of cystic fibrosis during his youth, Satterwhite overcame his health problems to go to law school and eventually became Kentucky’s youngest circuit court judge ever.
Satterwhite was a double-lung transplant recipient and a member of the Trust For Life’s Board of Directors until his death in 1998.
In his honor, the Satterwhite Fund provides lodging, travel, and medical assistance to Kentucky transplant recipients in financial crisis.
Since 2001, the fund has been able to assist hundreds of recipients from across Kentucky.
This year’s event will once again be held at the Fairway Golf Course in Wheatley. Tee off will be April 5 with a double-shotgun start at noon.
The cost to participate is $65 for 18 holes of golf, cart, food and entertainment following the tournament.
