the show in Gallatin

By winning the Gallatin Steel Tournament, the Owen County Lady Rebels proved they could win all types of games. Coach Osborne’s team began the four-day event with back-to-back blowout wins over Louisville Brown and Williamstown. The girls then showed they could come from behind in their defeat of Ludlow. In the championship game, the Lady Rebels proved they could play a tight contest with their win over Meade County.

Two wins at Lloyd Tournament for Rebels

One might think that the week between Christmas and New Year’s would be a time for rest and relaxation. Not for Coach Duvall and the Owen County Rebels. The team traveled north to take part in the Lloyd Memorial Tournament in Erlanger where they played four games in four days. The opponents included 9th Region foes Boone County and Silver Grove as well as 8th Region rival South Oldham. The Rebels also took on Magoffin County from the 15th Region. The Rebels ended up going 2-2 in the tournament.

Boys take two wins last week

Owen County returned to action last week against 8th Region opponents. Based on the results, they seem happy to be back. Coach Duvall’s bunch picked up two wins last week over Carroll County and Walton-Verona.
The Rebels returned home on Thursday night and defeated Carroll County 62-45. Carroll County had a 10-9 lead after one quarter, the Rebels took a 24-18 lead into intermission. The game would take a drastic change in the third quarter when Owen County outscored the visiting Panthers 25-2 to blow the game open. As the fourth quarter opened the outcome was not in doubt.
