event comes to county

• Event will be held at
Elk Creek Hunt Club in 2009

Shooting experts from all over the country will be coming to Owenton in June of 2009 to compete in a national contest.
For the first time, Elk Creek Hunt Club was awarded the 2009 U.S. Open of Sporting Clays. This is the second largest event in the sport with about 1,000 participants.
Gary Kathman, manager of the hunt club, hopes this will encourage local tourism.

Magistrates look back at

first year on fiscal court

Last November, three new magistates were elected to the fiscal court.
Jerry Jones, Teresa Davis and Ray Smith joined Bobby Gaines on the court, representing Districts 1, 3 and 4, respectively.
They’ve been through one year on the fiscal court and have begun their second. Since elected, they’ve adopted a Right to Farm ordinance that supports local farmers and brought broadband Internet to their districts.
