Hearing
on water treatment
plant
ends today
•
PSC began an evidentiary hearing on Monday to determine the best
plan of action
The hearing is conducted
somewhat like a trial, but the “verdict” won’t
be handed down for more than a month.
Members of the PSC and other parties such as the Louisville Water
Company, Bluegrass Water Supply Commission and Citizens for Alternative
Water Solutions (CAWS) have been taking part in an evidentiary hearing
in Frankfort since Monday.
The hearing will determine whether or not a Kentucky American water
treatment plant will be constructed on the Kentucky River.

Recent
rainfall too late to
help
local farmers
Farmers are facing a long,
cold and expensive winter.
The scars from the summer drought are slowly healing but the effects
still linger.
According to Jeff Satchwell, assistant manager at Southern States,
the recent rain was not enough to rescue farmers from the summer
damage.
“(The rain) came too little, too late,” Satchwell said.
“The pastures greened up some, but not enough to help.”

Owenton Police Officer
Tony Stigers arrested Russell C. Dunn, 18, on Saturday night.
The arrest was made at the Marathon station in Owenton at 10:19

with a minor.
He was held at Carroll County Regional Detention Center on a $20,000

Dunn’s arrest led to two more arrests by the Kentucky State
Police, and Owenton Police Chief Terry Gentry said he looks for
more arrests to follow.
Optimist
Club may be
chartered
Dec. 6
A charter date for the
Owen County Optimist Club was originally set for tomorrow night.
With not enough members signed and paid to form a club, the charter
date has been moved to Dec. 6.
Judy Ziegler is the current President of the Optimist Club. The
former Owen Countian is trying to get the club started again.
Owen County had an Optimist Club until sometime in the late 1990s.
In the past couple of months, Ziegler and past International President,
Ronnie Dunn, have been holding informational meetings to try and
determine interest in re-forming a club in the area.
