MBMS rolls over Williamstown
At times
it looked like a layup drill. The Bowling Middle School eighth-grade
girl’s basketball team defeated Williamstown 51-5 in their
first home game of the season last Thursday night.
The Lady Rebels used pressure defense to force Williamstown
into turnovers that were converted into points.
Bowling Middle limited Williamstown to just one field goal.
The other three Williamstown points came from the free throw
line.
The girls led 12-0 at the end of the first quarter and 32-0
at halftime.
Williamstown did not score until there was less than a minute
to go in the third quarter.
The Lady Rebels were led in scoring by Devin Juett’s 12
points. Meredith Marston pitched in 11 points.
Rianna Gayheart had eight while Alexis Ellis scored seven.
Regular
season ends in defeat
The Owen
County Rebels finished the regular season with a loss on Friday
night. The Rebels traveled to Trimble County where the Raiders
came out on top 40-6. Matt Harris scored the only touchdown
of the game for the Rebels.
For Coach Hockensmith and the rest of the team, they will now
have a week off before they will travel to play DeSales in the
first round of Class 2A Playoffs. DeSales beat the Rebels 42-0
earlier in the season in Owenton.
Owen County began the season with a win over Bishop Brossart.
The Rebels however would finish the season by dropping their
final nine games to finish the year 1-9. The Rebels will use
the week off to see how to get the offense on track. In the
Rebels first game against Brossart, the offense put up 30 points.
Over the final nine games, the offense only managed to score
38 points.
In other district action on Friday night, Kentucky Country Day
knocked off Carroll County (1-9) 32-7. The Panthers will finish
the season by hosting Dayton on Friday. DeSales (5-4) defeated
Southern 28-27 in overtime. The Colts will close out the regular
season at Fairdale. Christian Academy-Louisville (6-3) beat
