Roberts and Brent Allen Roberts announce the birth of their daughter,
Audrey Katherine Roberts, born Sept. 2, 2007, at Frankfort Regional
Medical Center.
Maternal grandparents are Steve and Kim Hawkins.
Paternal grandparents are Allen and Teresa Roberts.

Hayden
Wayne Smoot
Michael and
Elizabeth Smoot are proud to announce the birth of their son, Hayden
Wayne, born Aug. 10, 2007, at Frankfort Regional Medical Center
at 4:50 p.m. Hayden weighed 7 lb. 9 oz. and was 20 inches long.
Maternal grandparents are Joe and Betsy Peters of Monterey and the
late Dana Peters. Maternal great-grandparents are Dale and Lavera
Peters of Indiana and the late Robert and Leota Derringer of Monterey.
Paternal grandparents are Jerry and Patsy Smoot of Frankfort. Paternal
great-grandparents are Betty Ogden and the late Normal “Jack”
Ogden of Owenton and the late Carl and Margaret Smoot of Monterey.
Hayden’s cousins, Shelby, Trace and Connor Ogden and Laken
Ellis, were also very excited about his arrival.
October
is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Tammy Bishop never went
to get mammograms.
Now, looking back, she says she should have.
Bishop, a manager at Saveway in Owenton, was diagnosed with breast
cancer on Nov. 7, 2006. Now, almost a year later, she is in remission.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. According to the American
Cancer Society, an estimated 178,480 new cases of invasive breast
cancer will be diagnosed among women in 2007.

Burn ban lifted
After recent
rainfalls, Gov. Ernie Fletcher has lifted the Kentucky State burn
ban, which has prompted Owen County Judge/Executive Billy O’Banion
to lift the burn ban for Owen County.
According to the Department of Forestry there are still some restrictions
that apply:
•When a fire emergency is declared, ALL open burning is prohibited.
•During fire hazaard season, burning within 150 feet of any
woodland area is allowed only between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.
•From May-September, open burning is restricted in counties
that have been designated non-attainment for ozone and particulate
matter.
•Do not burn within 50 feet of any structure.
•Do not burn near landfills.
•Do not burn nera streams or sinkholes.
•Do not burn near utility lines.
