New business offers investment help

BY: Laura Hagan

David Yungkau said he was supposed to be a doctor.
After five years of medical school, however, he decided he wanted to work with stocks and bonds.
His business, National Securities, works with high-yield bonds for large corporations, but also helps individuals with their investments.
National Securities has recently moved into Owen County.
Yungkau opened his office here on Sept. 1, after he and his wife moved into a home on Gratz Road.
“I love it here,” he said.
Yungkau has done work in northern Kentucky and New York and said he heard about Owen County after some friends in northern Kentucky bought a small farm down here.
“I came down and was overwhelmed by the people and the way of life here,” he said.
After that, it took him three days to find the house and horse farm he now owns.
The work National Securities does is all out of the city, Yungkau said. He said most trades are a million dollars or more, and the company only deals with wired money, not cash.
He said he also helps people on an individual level, for example, he tells them what’s best to do when it comes to their retirement money.
But from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., he watches the market. He said he has 10 screens in his office that show news, prices, calculations and other stock market information.
The office is located next to North Park Pharmacy and is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday through Friday. He will stay after 4 p.m. though, he said, to meet with anyone that would like to. The number for National Securities is 484-1275.
While Yungkau hasn’t done any business in the county yet, he said he is happy with his move here.
“It’s a great place to live,” he said. “There’s a better quality of life down here.”
