PSC
holds first of three
public
meetings

Public invited to comment on proposed Kentucky American pipeline
Tensions
ran high Monday night at a meeting held by the Public Service Commission.
The topic
for discussion was the proposed Kentucky American treatment plant
that would be constructed on the Kentucky River to treat and pump
water to Lexington. The line, which would pump around 20 million
gallons per day – according to PSC Chairman Mark Goss –
would run through Owen County.

Ground

EGC Construction will begin work in the next two
weeks on the site that will soon be home to new Owen County businesses
McDonald’s
is coming.
A convenience
store and gas station are too.
A groundbreaking
ceremony was held Friday at noon at the corner of Hwy. 127 and Hwy.
22 east, where a McDonald’s, convenient store and Texaco gas
station will sit. Construction begins in a couple of weeks.
The project
will be – and has been – handled by a number of people.
EGC Construction will be doing the building and expects to get started
within the next two weeks. LMB Associates has worked on developing
the project since February of this year. Ashcraft has worked
as a selling broker.

Cases
of vandalism,
arson
still unsolved

Fires and vandalism have plagued Cubbage Avenue for
several weeks
Residents of Cubbage Avenue
have had a lot to deal with in the past few weeks.
In addition to several
houses and a truck being burnt, there have been a number of acts
of vandalism. Pools have been slashed, garden hoses have been cut,
guns have even been shot through a window.
