Jurkiewicz, 84
Lillian Ellis Jurkiewicz,
84, of Detroit, Mich., and formerly of Owenton, died Feb. 15,
2007, in Farmington Hills, Mich. Born Oct. 31, 1922, she was the
daughter of the late Herman and Ola Ruth Ellis. She was a retired
factory worker and a member of Beechwood Assembly of God.She is
survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Catherine
Holder of Detroit, Mich.; three sisters, Adda Florence McNulty,
Eula Perkins and Beulah Vannarsdall, all of Owenton; and three
grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John
Jurkiewicz; and brothers Tib and Claude Ellis.Funeral services
were held Feb. 19 at McDonald & New Funeral Homes with Bro.
Curt Smith presiding. Burial was in Owenton Cemetery. Memorial

Ligon, 84
John C. “Jay”
Ligon, 84, of Madison, Ind., died Feb. 15, 2007, at his residence.
Born April 24, 1922, in Owenton, he was the son of the late Lego
and Mattie Duncan Ligon. He served in the United States Army during
World War II and worked in construction in Florida and at Madison
State Hospital in Madison. He was a life member of VFW in Owenton.
He is survived by his wife,
Doris M. Coffin Ligon of Madison, Ind.; a son, John Mark Ligon
of Oshkosh, Wisc.; two step-sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael
Walters of Tallahassee, Fla., and David and Eugenia Walters of
Hampton, Va.; a step-daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Mike
Pacevich of Tallahassee, Fla.; a grandson, Andrew Ligon; step-grandchildren
Robin, Wendy, Christine, Dan, Michael, Teresa, David and Angela;
step-great-grandchildren, Emma, Sarah, Megan and Danyelle; and
a cousin, Mary Lou.
Funeral services were held Feb. 19 at Morgan & Nay Funeral
Centre in Madison, Ind., with Pastor Bob Leach officiating. Burial
was in Moffett Cemetery in Milton. Graveside military honors were
conducted by American Legion Jefferson Post 9.

Renfro, 65
William
“Red” Renfro, 65, of Owenton, died Feb. 16, 2007,
at Frankfort Regional Medical Center. Born May 15, 1941, he was
the son of the late Velmer and Iva Mae Wilhoite Renfro. He was
a retired machinist from Bendix and a member of Cherry Grove Pentecostal
Church where he served as a board member.
He is survived by his wife, Wavie Hammonds Renfro; two sons, Charles
E. Fiscus of Dry Ridge and William Daniel Renfro of Monterey;
three daughters, Angie Renfro of Lockport, Annette Howard and
Jackie Gambrell of Crittenden; four brothers, Donald Gene Renfro
and Velmer Renfro Jr. of Owenton, Marty Renfro of Hesler and Jackie
Renfro of Worthville; seven sisters, Jane Ellen Marsh, Rosie Lee
Juett, Roxie Ann Bennett, Sarah Florence McCormick, Shirley Moore
and Barbara Jean Wainscott, all of Owenton, and Faye Swigert of
Franklin County; a step-brother, Johnnie Hill of New Liberty;
a step-sister, Fannie Dews of Ohio; 11 grandchildren; and four
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Feb. 20 at McDonald & New Funeral
Homes with Bro. Larry Hammonds presiding. Burial was in Owenton
Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Cherry Grove Pentecostal

John Lusby Jr., 80
John Thomas Lusby Jr.,
80, of Ocala, Fla., and formerly of Owenton, died Feb. 17, 2007,
at Hospice’s Tuscany House in Summerfield, Fla. Born Aug.
22, 1926, he was the son of the late John T. Lusby Sr. and Ruby
Kinney Lusby. He worked for Parke-Davis Pharmaceuticals and was
retired from Warner Lambert.
He is survived by his step-mother, Thelma Keith; half-siblings,
Carolyn Corbett and Jerry Lusby, all of Owenton; and a nephew,
Tim Mason of Carrollton. He was preceded in death by a sister,
Juanita Lusby McPherin.
The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Feb. 22 at
McDonald & New Funeral Homes, Seminary Street location. Funeral
services will follow at 2 p.m. with Bro. David Wotier officiating.
Burial will be in Owenton Cemetery.
