Program continues effort to stop underage drinking in county

There were two questions Patti Clark had for members of the community.
“If not you, who? And if not now, when?” she asked.
Those questions bookended a presentation Clark did for the Owen County Teen Alcohol Prevention Project (TAPP) last Thursday. The presentation was meant to show the community what TAPP is and what they are doing for the youth in this community.


 

Wilson doing well after having heart surgery

Just by looking at her and even spending time with her, you would never know that 6-year-old Sarah Wilson was born with two congenital heart defects. You would never know that she just went through a surgery in December that fixed the hole in her heart.


UK group to tour county, hold forums this week

his week for a group of University of Kentucky students.
A landscape architecture class will visit the community on Thursday, staying through Friday, as it continues to compile a report on suggestions for the area’s future sponsored by the Owen County Vision Plan.


Monterey man misses mail, blames new road name

A couple of weeks ago David Spaeth received a letter from the Owen County judge-executive’s office.
The letter, dated Jan. 30, notified him that his street address would be changing from Old U.S. Highway 127 South to Monterey Pike, and it explained that it was up to him to notify the post office and any other agencies of his address change.
