OBITUARIES


Angula Webster, 37

Angula Rena Webster, 37, of Owenton, died May 29, 2007, at the New Horizons Medical Center.
Born December 31, 1969, in Lincoln County, she was a farm manager.
She is survived by her husband, Billy Joe Webster; her parents, Herschel and Pansy King Harris, of Lincoln County; her son, Billy Webster, Jr., of Owenton; two brothers, Wayne Harris of Owenton and Jerry Thomas Harris, of Indiana; and a sister, Emily Humphries, of Louisville.
Funeral services were held June 1, 2007, at McDonald & New Funeral Homes with Bro. David Wotier presiding. Burial was in Beechwood Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Beechwood Cemetery Fund.


Gladys Cotton, 104

Gladys Holbrook Cotton, 104, of Lexington, died May 31, 2007, at Mayfield Manor. She was a retired Grant County school teacher, a member of Carlsbad Garden Club, and member of Dry Ridge Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bradford C. Cotton; and her daughter, Carolyn Cotton Bishop. She is survived by her son, Bruce C. Cotton, of Lexington; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were June 5, 2007, at Eckler-Hudson Funeral Home and burial was in Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge.
Memorial contributions may be made to Cumberland College.


Esther Margaret Gillum Dearey, 90

Esther “Elsie” Margaret Gillum Dearey, 90, died June 2, 2007.
She and her husband, Howard, owned and operated Dearey’s Radio & TV Service in Elizabeth, N.J., for 33 years.
A devoted mother, grandmother, caregiver and avid gardener, she also worked for 17 years as a home health aide until her retirement in 1977.
She is survived by two sons, the Rev. John Dearey, Frankfort, and F. Robert Dearey and his wife, Kathleen, of Bridgewater, N.J.; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Dearey; parents Ernest and Marguerite Lauchaire Gillum; and brothers Joseph, Edward, and Francis Gillum. Funeral services were held at the Evangel Assembly of God Church in Scotch Plains, N.J. Burial was in Hollywood Cemetery, Union, N.J.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Franklin County Council on Aging, Blue Grass Community Action Agency Senior Companion, or Hospice of the Bluegrass.


Lloyd C. Mason, 86

Lloyd C. Mason, 86, of Madison, Ind., died June 1, 2007, at King’s Daughters’ Hospital. He was born Aug. 29, 1920, in Owenton, to Ray and Opal Garnett Mason. He was a United States Army veteran, the owner and operator of Lloyd Mason Construction Co. and co-owner of Mack & Mason Construction Co. and M & M Trucking Co., and a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Hilltopper’s Boat Club, and Trinity United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Elaine V. Banta Mason; his son, Robert L. Mason; and his step-daughter, Donna Bradford. He is survived by his wife, Pauline Anderson Denning Mason, of Madison, Ind.; a son, Monty Mason, and wife, Nellie of Madison, Ind.; a step-son, Gary Denning of Pittsburg, Pa.; three step-daughters, Margaret Sparks and husband Robert of Bryantsburg, Ind., Rhonda Pemberton and husband, Joe of Harrison, Ark., Sandra Demarce and husband Carl of Madison, Ind.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and best friend, Travis Mack, of Holton, Ind.
Funeral services were June 5, 2007, at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre with Bro. Clifton Hartley officating. Burial was in Grandview Memorial Gardens, Madison, Ind. with full military honors conducted at the graveside by Jefferson Post 9, of the American Legion.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.


Josephine Bryant, 92

Josephine Stephens Bryant, 92, of Frankfort, died June 3, 2007, at Beverly Health & Rehabilitation. Born December 5, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Mode and Ella Graves McDonald.
She was a former employee of the Stagg Distillery where she worked for 20 years and was the oldest member of Swallowfield Church of Christ.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, Elmer Stephens and Jim Bryant; her brothers, Whitey, Arch, and Jim Clay McDonald; her sisters, Bertha Hall and Mae Conley; and a great-great-granddaughter, Gracie Helen New.
She is survived by her daughter, Joann and husband Ronald Wright of Frankfort; three grandsons, David and Ronnie New, and Billy Rae Ballinger, all of Monterey; seven great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held June 5 at McDonald & New Funeral Homes. Memorial contributions may be made to Monterey Cemetery.
