Bitzer, 71
Margaret Carolyn Baker
Bitzer, 71, of Worthville, died May 14, 2007, at the home of her
daughter.
Born January 22, 1936, in Buckhorn, she was the daughter of the
late Alpha Baker. She was retired from Keekincan Inc. (now Ball
Manufacturing) in Newton, Ohio.
She was the beloved wife of Charles W. Bitzer, of Worthville;
and mother of Tony Bitzer, of Butlerville, Ohio, Scott and Mike
Bitzer, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Teresa Bitzer New, of Midland, Ohio,
Sarah Bitzer Stewart and Michelle Bitzer, of Owenton. She is also
survived by her brother, Randall Baker, of London, Ohio; her sister,
Sarah Belle Baker Bloemker, of Cincinnati, Ohio; fourteen grandchildren;
and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held May 18, 2007, at Tufts-Schildmeyer
Funeral Home with Bro. James Morris presiding. Burial was in Jefferson
Township Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the New Horizons Medical
Center.

Jump, 78
Golden (Jumpy) Jump,
78, of Cincinnati, Ohio, died May 14, 2007, at the Hospice of
Cincinnati in Blue Ash, Ohio. He was born June 7, 1928, in Gallatin
County, and was the son of Elza and Nora Perkins Jump. He was
raised in Gallatin County and was a member of Sanders Baptist
Church. Many may remember him from his career in landscaping at
Kings Island Amusement Park.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Bonnie; and
a brother, El William (Bill). He is survived by his children;
Roy and wife Shirley, of Clarksville, Ohio, Danny and wife Rose
of Amelia, Ohio, and Matt of Ohio; two daughters, Peggy Roode
and her husband, Roy of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Sue Paul and her
husband, Terry, of West Chester, Ohio; two brothers, Buford of
Clarksville, Ohio, and Opal of Warsaw; two sisters, Dora Faye
Hughes, of Bedford, and Lola Mae Matney, of Warsaw; five grandchildren;
and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were May 16, 2007, at Stine Kilburn Funeral Home,
Lebanon, Ohio. Burial was in Owenton Cemetery May 17, 2007.
Jesse
Suter, 93
Jesse “J.R.”
Jay Suter, 93, of Henry County, died May 16, 2007, at the Carroll
County Hospital. Born March 23, 1914, he was the son of the late
R.L. and Bertha Rucker Suter. He was retired from the Department
of Fish and Wildlife, he was a farmer and a member of Mt. Zion
Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Aileen Suter;
two brothers, Elbert and George Suter; two sisters, Juanita Miller
and Anna Diendoerfer; a grandson, Keith Ball; and a great-grandson,
Tyler Bright. He is survived by a sister, Lorene Mahoney; a brother,
Garnett Suter; three grandchildren, Donnie Ball, Kim Estes, and
Susan “Holly” Bright; 10 great-grandchildren; and
five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held May 18, 2007. Pallbearers were Bobbie
Baxter, Doug Beverly, Rob Adams, Kenny Suter, Charles Suter, Donnie
Ball, Amy Ball, and Amanda Bright. Burial was in Carrollton I.O.O.F.
Cemetery.
Louise
Robinson, 91
Louise Shaw Robinson,
91, died May 15, 2007, at New Horizons Medical Center. She was
born in Lockport, daughter of the late Linden and Lula Johnson
Shaw. She was one of the oldest members of Lockport Baptist Church
and Postmaster at Lockport Post Office for 48 years.
She is survived by her son, Ernest Klein Robinson, of Bethlehem;
three daughters, Vonda Howard of Owenton, Marilyn Gay Mudd, of
Bethlehem, and Brenda Fitzgerald, of Campbellsburg; five grandchildren;
and two great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband,
Ernest Matt Robinson.
Services were held May 18, 2007, at Sholar Funeral Home in Pleasureville
with the Rev. Wayne Kelly officiating. Burial was in Pleasureville
Cemetery.
Casket bearers included; Dallas Drury, Alva Robinson, Harrison
Robinson, Orva Lee Robinson, Tim Robinson and Tommy Robinson.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to
Lockport Baptist Church.
Nancy
Farrar, 60
Nancy Louise Henry Farrar,
60, died May 19, 2007, at her home on Knox Lillard Road in Warsaw.
She was the daughter of Ludie Lee Boaz Henry and the late Jesse
Woodrow Henry.
Nancy was a former employee of the Dorman Company having worked
there for ten years. She was also a homemaker and a member of
the Paint Lick Baptist Church.
Nancy is survived by her mother; two sons, Bubby Farrar, of Sanders,
and Michael Farrar, of Sparta; a daughter, Tracie Gullion, of
Sparta; a step-daughter, Julie Abercrombie, of Sanders; a sister,
Sue O’Connor, of Sanders; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the Garnett-New-McDonald
Funeral Home in Warsaw. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m.
with Bro. Kenny French officiating. Burial will be in Paint Lick
Baptist Church Cemetery.
Donations may be made in her memory to the Garnett-New-McDonald
Funeral Home.

Fifty Years Ago
Gov. A.B. “Happy” Chandler was the commencement speaker
at graduation. Seventy OCHS seniors received diplomas, making
the graduating class the second largest in the history of the
school. Scholastic honors went to Linda Carol Hawkins of Monterey,
who was valedictorian, and Peggy Bly Kemper of Owenton, salutatorian.
Mike Saterwhite fell from a tree and broke his arm. He was taken
to Dr. C.C. Waldrop in Williamstown.
Deaths
Eura Mae Davis, 63, died May 19. She was survived by her husband,
George Davis; and a brother, Ranson Plunkett. Funeral services
were May 22 at Smither & Kemper Funeral Home in Owenton. Burial
was in Holbrook Cemetery.
Ella Jacobs, 72, died May 19. Requiem High Mass was sung May 22
with the Rev. Albert McCracken officiating. Burial was in St.
Mary’s Cemetery.

George W. Baker resigned as OCHS principal, a position he held
since 1975. After coming to Owenton in 1972, he also served as
assistant principal, football coach, and athletic director.
The South Owen Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. was organized April
28, and it was called into action twice within its first three
weeks. Formed to serve a 10-mile area in southern Owen and northern
Scott counties, the unit boasted 29 members.
Deaths
Dessie Reece Newton, Georgetown, formerly of Swope Road, died
May 11. She was survived by her husband, Cester Newton; daughters
Elsie LaCourse and Nettie Switzer; sons Alvie, Edward and Gerald;
and sisters Nettie Hughes, Faye Hammonds and Florence Gould.
Joe F. Perry Jr., 21, Owenton, drowned May 10 in the Kentucky
River near Lockport. He was survived by his father, Joe Franklin
Perry; his mother, Mollie Wooten Hatton; and two sisters, Delois
Hackney and Carol Ann Perry. Graveside services were at Owenton
Cemetery.
Florence Hite Green, 81, Owenton, died May 15. She was survived
by her husband, Johnny Green; and three daughters, Mary Elizabeth
Whitney, Anna Mae Harris, and Willena Blanchard. Burial was in
Green Acres Cemetery.
Silus North, 67, Monterey, died May 19. He was survived by his
wife, Victoria North; a son, Luther Lankford, two daughters, Joyce
Goodin and Amanda Henson. Burial was in Monterey Cemetery.
Carl Mullannix ,55, Owenton, died May 14. He was survived by his
wife, Dorothy Mullannix; a son Danny; his mother, Aura Bell Mullannix;
and two sisters, Jenny Winkle and Lucille Mason. Burial was in
Owenton Cemetery.

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) toured flood-damaged
roads in Owen County. Charlie Noel, county road supervisor, hopes
to receive repair funds from FEMA.
A screening committee gave the Board of Education recommendations
for selecting a superintendent of schools. The contract of the
current superintendent, Bonita Burns, was due to expire June 30.
Death
Viola Docia Abbott Cook, 95, died May 16. She was survived by
sons Rassie, Russell, Orville, and Harold Cook; daughters Mayme
Arnold, Mary Honshul, Alice Glacking, aand Virginia Dennler; 46
grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren.
Burial was in New Columbus Cemetery.
