Robinson Family benefit concert Sunday

The Robinson Family will perform a benefit concert Sunday at 6 p.m. at the Robinson Family Farm on Swope Road. Tickets are $10 in advance/$12 at the door. Call Jo Carole Ellis at 554-1285 or Patti Clark at 514-3478 for tickets. Tony’s ‘Bama BBQ and homemade desserts will be sold. Doors open at 5. All proceeds benefit the Monterey Baptist Church New Orleans Mission Trip.

Charity Cornhole Tournament June 2
A charity cornhole tournament will be held on Saturday, June 2 at noon in the Monterey Baptist Church parking lot. Cost is $20 per team with 50-percent payback to winners. For more information, call Wyatt McDonald at 514-1283. All proceeds benefit the Monterey Baptist Church New Orleans Mission Trip.

 

Christian preschool accepting applications
The Owen County Christian Preschool is currently accepting applications for the three- and four-year-olds. You may pick up enrollment packets at First Baptist Church or call 484-2430 with any questions.

Baseball league sign-ups have begun
Players and/or teams interested in playing in the 18 years and up baseball league can register or inquire by calling Juney Arnold at (502)682-7020 or leave message at (502)223-2846. Games will begin June 2 in Frankfort.

Health series will be offered on Mondays
The Owen County Extension Service in conjunction with Three Rivers District Health will be offering a series called “Get Moving Kentucky:  Get Moving Owen County.”  The series runs Mondays from now until June 25, from 10 a.m. until noon. Each session you will be served a healthy snack, learn how to maintain weight and take a walk on the track. Call the extension office for more information.

Cornhole tournament is Saturday
Dallasburg Baptist Church’s Relay Team will host a cornhole and wiffleball tournament at the Owen County Fairgrounds on Saturday. Registration begins at 2 p.m.

Williamstown Alumni Banquet is Saturday
The Williamstown Alumni Banquet will be held Saturday at the Williamstown High School Gym. Registration is at 5:30 p.m. and dinner is at 6:30 p.m. The classes of 1947, 1957, 1967, 1975, 1982, 1987, 1992, 1997 and 2007 graduates will be honored. Reservations may be made on or before Tuesday with Patsy Kinman, 310 Falmouth St., Williamstown, Ky. 41097. The cost of the dinner is $15 per plate. Call (859)823-1941 with any questions.

County offices to close for Memorial Day

The Owen County Clerk’s office and PVA office will be closed Saturday and Monday for Memorial Day.

Library wil close for Memorial Day
The Owen County Public Library will be closed Memorial Day. It will re-open Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.

Glore retirement reception May 31

The city of Owenton is having a retirement reception in honor of Athelene Glore for her more than 30 years of service. It will be held tomorrow from 3 to 6 p.m. at city hall. A special recognition will be held at 5:30.

Game Show Night is June 2

Dallasburg Baptist Church’s Relay Team will host a Game Show Night at the Wheatley Community Center on June 2. They will begin serving dinner at 5:30 p.m. and games will begin at 7 p.m.

Head Start accepting applications

Head Start is now accepting applications for the 2007-08 school year. Children must be 3 years old by Oct.1. For an appointment call Paula Bond at 484-4249.

Prom Closet is closed
The prom closet is now closed for the year. They will not be accepting donations until October. Through the community’s support they were able to help several girls attend prom.


Adult Education Center needs donations
The Owen County Adult Education Center is asking for donations for their yard sale, which will be held at the center on July 14, 2007. If you have items you would like to donate please call Veronica or Fannie at the Adult Learning Center at 484-0405, or drop items off at the Center at 60 Old Monterey Road. All donations are tax deductible. Proceeds from the yard sale will help support the literacy program.
