When contracts for
two Owen County teachers were not renewed recently for the
next school year, it caused a stir among some students at
Owen County High School and other members of the community.
Don and Sara Allnutt received pink slips a few weeks ago.
That day, a group of students walked out of OCHS to show
their support and anger about the issue.
Those Busy
Beavers
Despite prevalence
in county, officials report few complaints

As local game warden Dennis Davis walks along a pond on
a piece of property south of Owenton, he points out how a
small dam — made out of mud and tree limbs by beavers — has
pushed back the water and allowed the pond level to rise.
“If you tore all this down, they’d come back
and rebuild it in a night or two,” he said.
Davis said beavers have inhabited riverbanks in Owen County
ever since he first became game warden in the county in 1981.

It marks the end of high school graduation

finally relax – and the beginning of something new – maybe
college, a job, or both.
“I am very nervous, but anxious at the same time,”
admitted graduating high school senior Lauren Wooten. “I
am sad that the first chapter of my life is over but ready
for the second chapter to begin.”
