On My Mind
Georgia
Green Stamper
In May
of 1968, my husband and I moved into our first house. Our monthly
mortgage payments were one hundred eighteen dollars and ninety-eight
cents – or as my husband boasted to everyone - six dollars
a month less than the rent we’d been paying on our apartment.
We were amazed at our financial cleverness. J. P. Morgan watch out!

More than
675 Kentucky Extension Homemaker Association (KEHA) members from
across the state gathered in Bowling Green for the organization’s
74th State Meeting. With the theme of “Driving Forward,”
the program focused on learning, leading, and serving. In addition,
the organization kicked off a 75th anniversary celebration that
will culminate with the 75th state meeting in 2008.

Note: Emma (Munson) Juett recently wrote this letter to her younger
sister Florence (Munson) Giles about the death of Ruth Munson, another
sister. Ruth died March 19, 1940, at age 16.
Florence, I said I would tell you about when Ruth died, and the
only way I can do it is to write it down.
She had been sick for maybe a couple of weeks and Dr. McBee had
been down to see her two or three times, but we didn’t know,
or at least I didn’t know, that she was as sick as she was.
