Illegal dump cleared on Old Landing
Crews contracted by the
county spent nearly a month cleaning up an illegal dumpsite on Old Landing Road
near the Kentucky River.
The project, financed by a state grant, cost $57,296.
From April 9 to May 2, workers from MCM Trucking, based out of Lexington, spent
more than 700 hours removing waste from the site.
The crew consisted of a foreman and four to six laborers.
In all, more than 10 tons of metal and more than 22 tons of trash were picked
up.
The waste filled 1,164 garbage bags, and 130 tires were removed from the site,
which was about 400 feet wide and 100 feet deep.
