The search for a missing
15-year-old Owen County teen ended happily for his family on Monday.
His concerned family called the Owen County Sheriff’s office
after the teen left home Friday and had not returned.
In addition to the Sheriff’s Department, the Owen County
Rescue Squad and Grand Paws Search Dog Team were also called in
to assist in the investigation.
Patricia Petzinger, of the Grand Paws team, said she brought a
tracking dog that was able to determine a possible direction of
travel.
According to their Web site, Grand Paws has 10 dogs certified
in search and rescue.
The team covers six counties besides Owen County, including Grant
and Carroll counties.
In Monday’s search, two additional air-scent dogs were brought
in to help.
The team checked a pond and one to two acres around the family’s
home.
While more dog teams were being called, Petzinger said an urgent
call came from Grant County, saying the teen had been spotted
there.
“I heard later that they found him,” she said.
The reason the boy left his home has not been confirmed, but it
was said that it may have been after a fight with family members.
Sheriff Zemer Hammond could not be reached for comment as of press
time.
