Owen
County Primary and Owen County Elementary students got a special
treat on Thursday when the National Guard brought a Blackhawk
helicopter to the school. Students were allowed to tour the
helicopter; some even got the chance to sit in the pilot’s
seat. Later that afternoon, six school officials, Mayor “Milkweed”
Wotier and I got the chance to take a 30-minute flight that
showed us a unique view, not only of our county, but the Kentucky
Speedway and Ohio River as well. Specialist Brian Henry said
this was a way for the National Guard to “show their appreciation”
of Owen County.
