Sheriff's office warns of

possible Medicare scam

The Owen County Sheriff’s Office wants residents to be on alert for possible Medicare scams.
The office released a statement last week warning of people stopping by homes or calling and asking for patients’ Social Security numbers and date of births.

Gene Ray Stewart has been showing horses since he was five years old. One of his earliest memories is being a member of the Owen County Pioneer Saddle Club and running barrels and poles with his pony, Tom.

It’s been eight years and 176 days since Kyle “Deanie” Breeden was last seen alive. A fisherman found his body in the Kentucky River, near the banks of Gratz and Lockport on Nov. 5, 1998; one week after a missing-person report was filed by the parents of the 40-year-old Shelbyville man.
He had been shot twice in the head with a .22-caliber firearm; his legs bound with a cord from an electric guitar amplifier.
For eight years, an arrest in the case never came.

Michael Gribbins knows how hard it is sometimes to make a buck.
A construction worker by trade, he moved from Cincinnati to Owenton to escape the city and better his life.
However, he found it difficult to make connections as the new guy in a rural community.

Superintendent Mark Cleveland makes a run for it after exiting a Blackhawk helicopter last Thursday. The pilot told all passengers to walk straight away from the helicopter when exiting. Cleveland was one of six school officials that got the chance to ride in the helicopter. That morning, students from Owen County Elementary and Owen County Primary School got the chance to see the inside of the helicopter. To see more pictures from the ride,  click the link above.
