County Clerk’s
Office will close for holiday
The Owen County Clerk’s Office will be closed on
April 6 and 7 for the Easter holiday.
Learn about henna tattoos at the library
Learn about temporary henna tattoos at the Owen County
Public Library, Monday at 6:30 p.m. Registration and a parental
permission form is required to have a tattoo applied. Forms are
available at the library.
KDDA Demo Derby is April 14
The first KDDA Demo Derby will be at 7 p.m. April 14
at the Owen County Fairgrounds. For more information call 484-3236

Class of ‘75 reunion planners to meet April 15
Those interested in planning the reunion for the class
of 1975 are invited to meet Sunday at 2 p.m. at 118 Kelly Court.

Sheriff to strictly enforce school zone traffic laws
A statement from the Owen County Sheriff’s office
notes that all flashing lights in school zones have been restored.
It warns motorists that fines are doubled for speeding in school
zones, and court appearances are mandatory.
The statement says the sheriff’s department and state police
will run radar at different times throughout the day for the rest
of the school year and reminds drivers that the center lane is
for turning, not passing other vehicles.
The statement claims several school buses have been passed while
having their stop-sign arms displayed and says motorists caught
doing so will be cited and have to appear in court.
Three Rivers to hold stop-smoking classes
Three Rivers District Health Department will be hosting
a 13-week smoking cessation class beginning at 5 p.m. April 17.

Library to be closed on April 19
The Owen County Public Library will be closed April 19
for staff development. It will re-open April 20 at 9:30 a.m.
Prom formalwear and donations needed
Ladies, we are now accepting gently used formal dresses and accessories.
Donations are also needed to help with additional prom expenses,
dry cleaning, etc. Drop off your donated items with Diana O’Toole
at the Owen County HIgh School or by contacting Dana Gill at 484-2618.
Prom Closet will offer formal gowns
If you are a teenager in need of a dress for homecoming,
prom, or any other special event, the Prom Closet can help. The
Prom Closet Project distributes gowns twice a year during Prom
and Class Night. During both seasons you can set up an appointment
to shop for your very own dress. This is completely free of charge.

County awarded FEMA money
Owen County has been awarded $5,020 in FEMA money for
2007. If you are interested in applying for the funds, you will
need to be a nonprofit agency. If you have any questions, please
call Owen County Community Action at 484-2116 or NKCAC at (859)

Adult Education offers job readiness classes
The Owen County Adult Education Program is offering classes
in job readiness skills. The program includes resume writing,
interviewing skills, beginning computer skills and more. For more

The Adult Education Center is looking for volunteers to tutor
reading, math and resume writing. For more information, contact

Police will conduct periodic road blocks
The Owenton Police Department, in conjunction with other
agencies, will be conducting periodic road blocks in the next
couple of months.
