McAlister, 76
Cecil C. McAlister,
76, of Gratz, died March 8, 2007, at his home. Born March 31,
1930, he was the son of the late Henry and Ethel Derringer McAlister
and was preceded in death by a son, Timothy McAlister. He was
a member of the Gratz Christian Church and was a mechanic for
McDaniel Farm Equipment for more than 30 years. He was also an
Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Jones McAlister; two sons, Virgil
McAlister of Owenton and Paul McAlister of Lockport; four daughters,
Anita Arnold and Sandra Aldridge of Lockport, Melinda Sharp of
Drennon and Cassie McAlister of Gratz; eight grandchildren; and
three great-grandchildren.
Honorary bearers were David Chadwell, Tim Sharp, Rodney Smith,
Chris Stangle, Danny and Terry McAlister. Pallbearers were Darrell
Arnold, P.J. Aronold, John Crow, Glen, Josh and Ethan Aldridge.
Funeral services were held March 10 at McDonald & New Funeral
Homes with Bro. Wayne Kelly presiding. Burial was in Owenton Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass.

L. “Peewee” Conrad, 69
James Larry “Peewee”
Conrad, 69, of Williamstown, died March 10, 2007, at his residence.
Born May 20, 1937, in Grant County, he was the son of the late
Elmer Clifton Conrad and Anna Ware Simpson. He was the owner of
Conrad Tire Co. in Williamstown, a member of the Macedonia Baptist
Church of Jonesville, and served in the U.S. Army for two years
during peacetime.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Carolyn Osborne Conrad, of Williamstown;
his son, Steve Conrad of Williamstown; two grandchildren, Jamie
and Shawn Conrad, both of Williamstown; and two brothers, Gerald
Ray Conrad of Corinth and Louis Clifton “Bud” Conrad
of Dry Ridge.
He was preceeded in death by five siblings, David L. Conrad, Frank
Conrad, Jeff Conrad, Ann Louise Ewing and Susan Phillips.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. March 14 at the Elliston-Stanley
Funeral Home in Williamstown with the Rev. David Wotier officiating.
Burial will be in Jonesville Cemetary. Memorial contributions
may be made to St. Elizabeth Hospice, Covington.
Thelma
L. Shields, 75
Thelma L. Shields, 75,
of Carrollton, died March 10, 2007, at the Carroll County Regional
Medical Center in Carrollton. Born January 22, 1932, in Carroll
County, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and
Gracie Earlier Potts Smith. She was a retired housekeeper and
a member of the Carrollton Christian Church.
She is survived by her five daughters, Linda Burns of Carrollton,
Betty J. Jones of Ethridge, Tenn., Diane M. Shields of Carrollton,
Janice F. Stewart of Owenton, and Bonnie S. Shields of Carrollton;
two sons, Bobby Allen Shields of Danville, and David M. Shields
of Florence; one sister, Joyce A. Mylor of Carrollton; one half-sister,
Gracie Hillis of Ghent; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceeded in death by her husband, Allen Caviness Shields;
and two brothers, Lewis Franklin Smith and John Thomas Smith.
Services will be held 10:30 a.m. March 14 at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley
Funeral Home in Carrollton with the Rev. Chris White officiating.
Burial will be in Owenton Cemetary.
Allie Noel, 83
Allie Franklin Noel, 83, of Owenton, died Saturday, March 10,
2007, in Frankfort.
Born February 9, 1924, he was the son of the late Frank and Nannie
Steger Noel and was preceded in death by his brother, Rome Noel.
He was a member of the Long Ridge Baptist Church and the Owen
Lodge 128 F&AM. He was retired from the Transportation Cabinet
in the State Highway Department, Engineers Office.
He is survived by two nephews, Charlie Noel of New Liberty and
Sherlock Noel of Lexington; one niece, Naomi Smith of Florence;
his sister, Allena Stewart of Florence; and his long-time companion,
Doris Ward.
Honorary bearers were Billy Sturgeon and Herschel Stewart. Pallbearers
were Jimmy Marston, Jackie Lynn, Gary Cobb, Brian Forsee, Mark
Baldwin and Billy Gayle Osborne.
Funeral services were held March 13 at McDonald & New Funeral
Homes with Bro. David Wotier presiding. Burial was in Owenton
Cemetary. Memorial contributions may be made to New Horizons Medical
Center. .
