Rebels end with 2-1 record in Snowball Classic

Over the holidays the Rebels competed in the Snowball Classic in Frankfort. The Rebels ended the tournament with a 2-1 record, defeating Centennial High School and the Raiders from Pyle High School, and falling to the Frankfort High School Panthers.
The Rebels played the Panthers first, and lost 75-74 on a last-second shot by Panther E.J. Fields. The Rebels played an excellent offensive game with four players scoring in double digits. Jared Perkins scored 20 points and brought down seven rebounds. Following Perkins was Dan Neeley with a double-double, having 19 points and 10 steals. Zack Miller also put in 19 points and had seven rebounds. Danny O’Toole contributed 11 points and four rebounds.
The next day the Rebels faced Centennial High School and took the win, 48-39. Jared Perkins had 20 points and seven rebounds. Later that day the Rebels took on the Ryle Raiders and brought home a 46-34 victory. Neeley had 15 points, seven rebounds and eight steals, followed by Jared Perkins with 13 points.
Senior center Jared Perkins was named to the all-tournament team. He scored a total of 53 points in the Snowball Classic, averaging 17.6 points a game.
On Jan. 2, the Rebels took on the Bearcats from Walton Verona and walked away with a 53-24 victory. At halftime the Rebels went into the locker room with a 21-17 lead. In the second half, The Rebels out-scored the Bearcats 32-7. Leading the Rebels were Neeley with 19 points and seven steals, along with Miller, who added 12 points.
Two days later, the Rebels faced district rivals Carroll County Panthers. They defeated the Panthers 71-52. This win tied the Rebels for a first-place district seed with the Gallatin County Wildcats. Neeley led the way for the Rebels with 23 points, six rebounds, four assists and seven steals. Also contributing were Miller and Jordan Downey with 18 points and 13 points respectively.
The Rebels will compete against Gallatin County for a first-place district seed on Jan. 10 at home. Freshmen play at 5 p.m., junior varsity at 6 p.m. and varsity at 7:30 p.m.
