Court in Owen nothing like Television
It was a different
scene at District Court last Friday. With shows like “Law
& Order” that give the idea of courtroom drama, one might
think they have an idea of what court is like. Unless, of course,
they’ve been there.

County launches new Web address
Owen County
officials launched a new Web site Tuesday that will feature government
phone numbers, forms, ordinances and other information, as well
as links and information for other local points of interest.

Lester serves her first day as first female judge on the 15th
District
When Elizabeth Chandler
Lester slipped into her robe Monday morning, it was in a role
she’d never been in before.
Jan. 8 was Lester’s first day on the bench as a district
judge. She is the first female elected in the 15th Judicial
District, which covers Grant, Owen and Carroll counties.

Electric could increase rates
If approved, it will
be the first time in 24 years rates have gone up for the company.
Fiscal
Court to hold public forums before meetings
Owen County Judge-Executive
Billy O’Banion wants to provide a chance for the public
to address the Fiscal Court about issues outside of its regular
meetings. He has proposed that he and the county’s magistrates
show up an hour before each monthly meeting to hold a public
forum with the community.
