Mrs. Inman’s third-grade class continues its caring project
of gifts. This is the sixth year her class has done this project.
‘Tis
better to give than to receive
For the sixth year, Mrs. Inman’s
third-grade class will be giving local children a great Christmas.
One of the “Character Counts” pillars of the school
is “caring.”
This class has taken the opportunity to put the pillar into
action. The 24 kids in Mrs. Inman’s class raised $420
to buy clothes and toys.
They earned their money by doing chores around the house, helping
neighbors, etc. After raising money for six weeks, the class
ventured to Dry Ridge on December 13th to make their purchases.
The Wal-Mart employees remember Mrs. Inman from year to year
and are very complimentary on this project.
The students were divided into teams. Each team was given a
list and a budget. The team captain had to calculate the total
purchases including tax and be ready to report back at a given
time. What a great experience. This real life experience has
touched their hearts in many ways.
As a special treat for their hard work and dedication to making
this project a success, the class enjoyed lunch at McDonalds
before heading back to school.
