Santa Claus is comin’ to town

Santa Claus ended the annual Christmas Parade Sunday. The parade was led by former Miss America Heather French Henry and her family and also included floats from area businesses and churches. The Robinson Family sang Christmas carols and many local businesses held an open house. The theme for this year’s parade was “Homeward Bound at Christmas.”

Three weekend fires damage Owen County homes

Owen County firefighters responded to three fires in three separate parts of the county virtually back-to-back-to-back last Friday night and early Saturday morning. It appears wood stoves or chimneys caused all three blazes — on a night when temperatures plummeted below the 30-degree mark just one day after topping out near 70, making it one of the coldest nights of the early winter.
No injuries were reported in the fires, but two of the homes suffered heavy damage.
A caller reported the first blaze at 11:36 p.m. Friday at a mobile home located at 6465 Cull Road,

near New Liberty.

Groups envision county’s future

Owen 20/20 and the Owen County Vision Plan aren’t two new optometrist offices opening up in town — they are the names of two projects focusing on what Owen County could look like in the coming years.
