OCES Fall Festival and chili supper is Friday
Owen County Elementary School will hold a fall festival and chili
supper from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday. There will be food, games,
prizes and fun. Admission is $.50.
Arts and Crafts Show is Saturday
Owen County Extension Homemakers will be sponsoring the Owen County
Arts and Crafts Show and Holiday Bazaar from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Saturday. The event will be held at the Owen County Extension
Office. Items available include baked goods, gift baskets, purses,
candles, jewelry and more. The Homemakers will provide food. For

Women’s World Day of Prayer is Monday
There will be an observance of Women’s World Day of Prayer
from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m on Monday. It will be held at the First
Baptist Church education building. Offering will be taken and
everyone is welcome.
Hesler precinct moved for fall election
The Hesler Precinct will be moved to the Hesler Assembly of God
Church for the general election on Nov. 7. This relocation is
due to the federal requirements for handicapped accessibility.
County Clerk’s Office is closed Election Day
Owen County Transfer Station is closed Election Day
The Owen County Transfer Station will also be closed for dumping
on Nov. 23-24 for Thanksgiving. November’s “Free Day”
will be Nov. 18.
City Council meeting date changed
The next City Council meeting will be at 7 p.m. November 9. The
date is changed due to the election.
Board of Education will meet Nov. 9
There will be a special meeting of the Board of Education with
the architect at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 9. The meeting will be at the
Board of Education office.
Post offices will be open on Election Day
Post offices will be closed on Veteran’s Day
There will be no mail delivery except for Express Mail.
D.A.R. will meet “Miss Molly” on Nov. 11
The John Guill Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution
will meet at the Owen County Library at 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 11.
The guest speaker will be Jean Ellen Hiter, Regent of the Susannah
Hart Shelby Chapter of Frankfort. She will introduce Miss Molly
and give information about Mary DeSha, one of the founders of
the D.A.R. Women 18 years and older are welcome to attend. For

Chamber of Commerce meets Nov. 16
The Owen County Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual meeting
at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 16, at the county extension building. Georgetown
College President Dr. William Crouch will serve as guest speaker.
To obtain tickets, contact Frank Downing, Chris Spurgeon, Debbie
Sigretto, Sarah Cobb or Stuart Bowling. Tickets cost $30 each
and must be purchased no later than Monday.
Benefit for Seth Kingkade is Nov. 18
A benefit will be held for Seth Kingkade from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
on Nov. 18. Seth was recntly diagnosed with a rare disease called
“Goodpasture Disease”. The event will take place at
the First Baptist Fellowship Hall / Life Center. For more information

Local and state police start roadblocks
In the upcoming months, local and state law enforcement will be
conducting periodic roadblocks.
