Cathryn Whobrey, 83

Cathryn Gibson Whobrey, 83, of Owenton, died Oct. 18, 2006, at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Elmer Bradley and Rena Morgan Gibson.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Debbie Whobrey and Donnie and Patty Whobrey, all of Sparta. Also surviving are four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Whobrey, and a daughter, Barbara Orsburn.
Funeral services were held Oct. 21 at McDonald & New Funeral Homes. Burial was in Owenton Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass.


John Stewart, 74

John Howlett Stewart, 74, of Warsaw died Oct. 14, 2006, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, South, in Edgewood. He was born Feb. 17, 1932, in Steels Bottom, the son of the late Archie and Millie Stewart. He was employed by Lasco Industries in Florence and was a farmer and member of Paintslick Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Virginia Agrue Stewart of Warsaw; three sons, John W. Stewart, George H. Stewart and Mark D. Stewart, all of Warsaw; four daughters, Frances S. Hearn of Florence, Phyllis S. Herndon of Sparta, and Lena L. Wilson and Shirley M. Lafferty, both of Warsaw; a sister, Christine Stewart of Warsaw; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Oct. 18 at Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home in Verona with the Rev. Kerry Dale Spencer officiating. Burial was at he Stewart family cemetery in Steel’s Bottom. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 297 Buttermilk Pike, Ft. Mitchell 41017.


Clifford Allen, 55

Clifford Ray Allen, 55, of Owenton, died Oct. 22, 2006, at his residence. He was the son of the late George Washington Allen and Lula Bessie Woodrup.
Survivors include four brothers, Larry, Leroy and Tim, all of Shelbyville, and Gary of Lynn, Ind.; and a sister, Annie Anderson of Sunman, Ind.
Funeral services were held Oct. 24 at McDonald & New Funeral Homes with the Rev. David Wotier officiating.

 


Cassandra Beach, 24

Cassandra June Beach, 24, of Sparta died Oct. 22, 2006, at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence. She was born Nov. 26, 1981 in Ft. Thomas. She was self-employed, a homemaker and a member of Family Tabernacle of God.
She is survived by her husband, James Beach of Sparta; her parents, Tracy and Terry Sanders of Glencoe; and a sister, Samantha Sanders of Warsaw. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Angel Louanna June Beach.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 26 at Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home in Verona. Funeral services will be held at noon Oct. 26 at the funeral home with the Rev. David Hill officiating. Burial will be in Napoleon Odd Fellows Cemetery in Gallatin County. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cassandra Beach Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 67, Verona 41092.


Bonnie McCauley, 46

Bonnie Sue Deskins McCauley, 46, of Sumter, S.C., died Sept. 18, 2006, from injuries received in an automobile accident. Born in Ottawa, Kan., on Nov. 21, 1959, she was a daughter of Gary P. Deskins and the late Judy Carlson Magnuson.
She was a member of
Northside Memorial Baptist Church and a volunteer at Pocalla Springs Elementary School where she was a member of the school improvement council. She was named Volunteer Parent of the Year in 2004 and State PTA Volunteer of the Year in 2005. She was the owner and operator of Southern Gels Candle Making Co.
Surviving are her husband, Timothy Alan McCauley; her father, Gary P. Deskins of Melvern, Kan.; a son, Adam Roland Boxley McCauley of Sumter; a daughter, Destiny Moriah McCauley of Sumter; two brothers, Garry B. Deskins of Wilsonville, Ore., and Matt G. Deskins of Macon, Ga.; two sisters, Kathy Arb of Osage City, Kan., and Julie Harries of Topeka, Kan.; her father-in-law, Leroy B. McCauley of Cynthiana; and two sisters-in-law: Judy (John) Hetterman of Owenton and Patty (Brian) House of Columbus, Ohio.She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Herbert R. Magnuson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Oct. 28 at Cynthiana Christian Church, 202 N. Main St., Cynthiana with the Rev. Tim Teater officiating. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Oct. 28 at the church. Burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery, Cynthiana.
Memorials are suggested to the Adam and Destiny McCauley Education Fund, c/o Bank of America, 670 W. Liberty St., Sumter, S.C. 29150.


Billy Gaines, 66

Billy G. Gaines, 66, of Owenton, died Oct. 23, 2006, at the V.A. Hospital in Lexington. He was born Jan. 16, 1940, in Lexington, the son of Emma Underwood Gaines of Monterey and the late Delmer Gaines. He was a sawmill operator and veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister, Barbara Meadows of Frankfort, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Young.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 28 at the residence, 9780 Hwy. 127S.

 


Fred Morley, 75

Fred E. Morley,. 75, died Oct. 21, 2006, in Verona. Born April 30, 1931, in Merrimac, W.V., he was the son of the late Fred Morley and Rosa Collins. He was an inventory controller for Lit-Ning Hunt in Florence.
He is survived by his wife, Joy M. Dyer Morley of Verona; a son, Greg Morley of Sanders; two daughters, Patricia Morley Stephenson of Walton and Pamela Morley Jensen of Cincinnati; a brother, Donald Pack of West Virginia; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Oct. 24 at Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home in Verona with the Rev. George Naylor officiating. Burial was in New Bethel Cemetery in Verona. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Elizabeth Hospice, 401 E. 20th St., Covington 41014.


Shirley Jones, 69

Shirley Rogers Jones, 69, of Corinth died Oct. 14, 2006, at his residence. He was a retired farmer and water truck driver. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church and formerly coached the Corinth-Mason Little League baseball team.
He is survived by six daughters, Vickie Miller of Louisville, Beverly Jackson of Corinth, Nancy Lanning of Milan, Ind., Yolanda Diaz of Monterey, Nancy Cheesman of Florence and Lillian Oaks of Corinth; four sons, Michael Jones of Crittenden, David Jones and Corey Jones, both of Corinth, and Doug Lewis of Frankfort; a sister, Susan Jones Cozine of Corinth; 17 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa Oaks, and two brothers, Denzil Jones and Oscar Jones.
Funeral services were held Oct. 17 at McDaniel Funeral Home in Corinth. Burial was in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Grant County. Memorial donations may be made to the family in care of McDaniel Funeral home, P.O. Box 7, Corinth 41010.

 


Donald Wainscott, 74

Donald L. Wainscott, 74, of New Liberty, died Oct. 23,
2006, at Harborside Healthcare. He was the son of the late Leonard and Calista Lusby Wainscott, was a member of Owenton First Baptist Church and was retired from the State of Kentucky where he worked for the transportation department. He was also a farmer and an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Dowd Wainscott; three sons, Don Lee Wainscott and David Dowd Wainscott, both of New Liberty, and Douglas Alan Wainscott of Cincinnati; two sisters, Betty Jean Hale of Louisville and Mary Alice Ayres of Dayton, Ohio; three granddaughters, Tyne, Sagan and Jensen Wainscott. He was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard Wainscott.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 25 at McDonald & New Funeral Home on Main Street with the Revs. Jesse Bourne and Daven Watkins officiating. Burial will be in Owenton Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lester Towles, Leslie Towles, Wendell Tuggle, Ronnie Roberts, James Lester Payne and Willie Ray Bourne. Honorary bearers will be Alvin Grisham and Winston Carver.
Memorial donations may be made to Owenton First Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
