Adult Learning Center is closed today through Friday
The staff will be attending an adult education conference. Regular hours will resume Monday.
Family Movie Time is Thursday
The Owen County Public Library will be hosting free Family Movie Time at 3:45 p.m. Thursday. They will be showing the movie “Hoot,” which is rated PG. Refreshments are provided and the program is open to all ages.
Boys’ Soccer Senior Night will be broadcast Thursday
The Owen County High School boys’ soccer game against Grant County and Senior Night ceremony will be shown on cable channel 20 at 7 p.m. Thursday. The broadcast is a production of STEP, a multimedia venture of Owen County High School.
Diabetes session is Thursday
The Owen County Extension Service and the Three Rivers Health District will host a diabetes session called “Dining Out: Good Fast Food Options” at 5 p.m. Thursday. The session will be held at the Owen County Cooperative Extension Office. To preregister, call 484-5703.
“Heroes Unmasked” is Saturday
Dallasburg Baptist Church will be hosting “Heroes Unmasked” at 6 p.m. Saturday. The program begins with trick-or-treating. They ask that no one wears scary costumes. Prizes will be awarded for the most creative Bible hero costume. The event will include carnival-style games, cookie decorating, crafts, a puppet show and more.
Family Harvest Party is Saturday
Hesler Assembly of God will be hosting a free Family Harvest Party on Saturday. The event will begin at 3 p.m. with games for all ages, a chili supper, a hay ride and candy. For more information call the church office.
Owen County Hymn Sing is Sunday
The Owen County Hymn Sing will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Mussel Shoals Baptist Church. All churches are invited to participate. For more information call 857-4590.
Voting Machines will be inspected Monday
The County Election Board will inspect voting machines for the general election at 10 a.m. Monday at the Owen County Clerk’s Office
Ghost stories to be told Monday
Owen County Storyteller Bill Watson will be telling ghost stories at the Owen County Public Library at 6:30 p.m. Monday. The program is open to all ages and everyone should come in their favorite costume. For more information call 484-3450.
OCES Fall Festival and chili supper is Nov. 3
Owen County Elementary School will hold a fall festival and chili supper on Nov. 3 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. There will be food, games, prizes and fun. Admission is $.50.
Chamber of Commerce meets Nov. 16
The Owen County Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual meeting at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 16, at the county exentsion building. Georgetown College President Dr. William Crouch will serve as guest speaker. To obtain tickets, contact Frank Downing, Chris Spurgeon, Debbie Sigretto, Sarah Cobb or Stuart Bowling. Tickets cost $30 each and must be purchased no later than Nov. 6.
Local and state police start roadblocks
In the upcoming months, local and state law enforcement will be conducting periodic roadblocks.
Hesler precinct moved for fall election
The Hesler Precinct will be moved to the Hesler Assembly of God Church for the general election on Nov. 7. This relocation is due to the federal requirements for handicapped accessibility.
