Goal
is to draw 500, increase awareness of drug problem in community
When you check out
the Web site for the Northern Kentucky Drug Strike Force, you’ll
see photos of different kinds of drugs that have been found in Northern
Kentucky.
From 251 pounds of marijuana to seized funds, to cocaine packed
in gram baggies, to a complete meth lab, the pictures tell a story
of drug use in the area that can’t help but touch Owen County.
Schools
target safety
After
recent school shootings
It couldn’t
happen here.
That is what everyone thinks.
The faculty and students at Platte Canyon High School in Bailey,
Colo., didn’t believe it would happen to them, neither did
those at Weston School in Cazenovia, Wis. No one believed they would
hear of this kind of thing happening at an Amish school.
City
Council considers cemetery ownership
Shrinking
number of Oddfellows members reason for request
The
Owenton Cemetery is for sale.
In their meeting Oct. 3, the Owenton City Council continued
discussion on what to do regarding the International Order of
Oddfellows Cemetery.
The Oddfellows, who have owned the cemetery for years, would
like the city to take over ownership. Because of dwindling membership
in the order, the Oddfellows are looking into the future and
do not want to become so few they cannot keep up with the cemetery.
They are hoping to have local ownership for the cemetery.
