Mills, 93
Mildred “Millie”
Sizer Mills, 93, former First Lady of Georgetown College, died
Sept. 10, 2006, in Bradenton, Fla. A native of Cincinnati,
she was the daughter of the late Charles Thomas and Louise Lydia
Betscher Sizer. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in
Owenton.
She graduated from Walnut Hills High School in Cincinnati and
received her bachelor’s degree in 1935 from the Cincinnati
Conservatory of Music and the University of Cincinnati. She taught
music in Media, Pa., and Covington schools. She served as choir
director at Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Oak Ridge, Tenn., Immanuel
Baptist Church in Lexington and Georgetown Baptist Church in Georgetown.
She was a member and former president of the Woman’s Association
of Georgetown College.
Survivors include three children and their spouses: Robert Lee
and Maggie Mills Jr. of Cincinnati, Dixie Louise Mills of Bloomington,
Ill., and Barbara and Dale Mills Harrell of Bradenton, Fla; three
grandsons and their spouses, Robert Lee and Katie Mills III, Steven
P. and Heather Harrell and Michael S. Harrell; a sister, Mabel
Sizer Rose of Auburn, Ind., and a brother, the Rev. Thomas Sizer
of Cincinnati. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Robert
L. Mills; a sister, Muriel Sizer; and two brothers, Charles and
George Sizer.
Funeral services were Sept. 14 at Faith Baptist Church in Georgetown
with Pastor Daven Watkins officiating. Burial was in Georgetown
Cemetery. Honorary bearers were Robert L. Mills III, Steven P.
Harrell, Michael S. Harrell, Danny Tilford, Ken Hanson, Tom Corts,
Paul Beasley, Robin Oldham, David Stowe and Dave Griffith. Expressions
of sympathy may be made to the Robert and Millie Mills Scholarship

Gene Ray Clifton, 75,
of Owenton died Sept. 18, 2006, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
Born Feb. 7, 1931, in Owen County, he was the son of the late
Reat and Mary Lee Juett Clifton. He was retired from Island Creek
Coal Co. and was a member of Richland Baptist Church.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Joan Clifton;
a daughter and son-in-law, Raegena and Colby Criswell, all of
Owenton; three grandsons, Chris Clifton of Frankfort, Colby Brandon
Criswell of Louisiana and John David Criswell of Owenton; and
a great-grandson, Colby Joseph Criswell.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 21 at Richland
Baptist Church Cemetery with Bro. Jesse Bourne officiating. Memorial
