Joretta
Woolums, 68
Joretta Towles Woolums,
68, of Owenton, passed away Thursday at the New Horizons Medical
Center in Owenton.
Joretta was a retired employee of the Sprague Company and had
previously worked for Johnson Controls and Union Underwear Company.
She was a member of the Beechwood Assembly of God Church.
Born October 25, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Carroll
“Buck” Towles and Nellie Marie Young. She was the
daughter-in-law of the late James Everett and Flavie B. Woolums.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Bobby Towles.
She is survived by her huband, Gene Woolums; one brother, Billy
Towles of Vevay, Ind.; a son, James “J.C.” Woolums
of Berea, Ky.; four daughters, Vanita Greene, Kelly Greene, Tonya
Keith and Lisa Woolums, all of Owenton; eight grandchildren and
one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Sept. 3 at McDonald & New Funeral
Homes. Burial was in Owenton I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Mossie
Martin, 73
Mossie Moore Martin,
73, of Owenton, died Sept. 1, 2006, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center
South in Edgewood.
Born April 25, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Tolby and
Minnie Moore. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Winford
Martin; and a son, Winford R. Martin Jr.
She is survived by three daughters, Patricia Rae Prather, Owenton,
Brenda Sue Kadera, Union, and Barbara Ann Chestnut, Florence;
a brother, Chandler Moore of Indianapolis; a sister, Helen Mann,
Williamstown; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services were Sept. 3, 2006, at the Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home
in Williamstown with the Rev. Paul Marksberry officiating. Burial
followed in the Mason Cemetery in Mason.

Nannie
Jenkins, 89
Nannie Gillispie Jenkins,
89, of Corinth, died Sept. 2, 2006, at Grant Manor Nursing Home
in Williamstown. She was a homemaker and a member of Stonewall
First Church of God in Sadieville where she was a Sunday school
teacher and member of the Women’s Christian Group.
She is survived by a daughter, Faye Beckham of Sadieville;
a sister, Dorothy Moore of Florence; two brothers, Ray Gillispie
of Georgetown and John Gillispie of Elsmere; a granddaughter,
Crystal Gallagher of Sadieville; and a great-grandson, Jaylen
Gallagher of Sadieville. She was preceded in death by her husband,
Stanley W. Jenkins.
Funeral services were held Sept. 5 at McDaniel Funeral Home in
Corinth with the Revs. Tom Denny and Jesse Rogers officiating.
Burial was in Corinth Cemetery.
Helen
Greene, 90
Helen M. Greene, 90,
died Aug. 29, 2006, at Carroll County Regional Medical Center
in Carrollton. She was born March 7, 1916, in Sparta to the late
Ambrose and Ethel Calvert Moore and was a member of New Liberty
Baptist Church and Kentucky Retired Teachers Association.
She is survived by a brother, Gene Moore of Germany; a son-in-law,
Winston Carver of Owenton; four grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren;
one great-great-grandchild; eight nieces and five nephews. She
was preceded in death by her husband, Harry C. Greene, and a daughter,
Joyce A. Carver.
Funeral services were held Sept. 1 at McDonald & New Funeral
Homes. Memorial donations may be sent to New Liberty Baptist Church.
