Hoop received another award for her accomplishments in cross country.
Hoop, who placed second at the Class A state meet last year in
cross country when she was a seventh-grader at Maurice Bowling
Middle School, has now received a citation from Sen. Damon Thayer
for her accomplishments.
In a letter to Hoop dated July 21, Sen. Thayer wrote “Congratulations
on capturing second place honors at the Class A State Cross Country
Meet and being named Class A First Team All-State and to the All-Middle
School Team, the Area 4 Girls Team and the Girls Academic All-State
Team.”
The citation, written on July 7, read: “Know ye that Danielle
Hoop, a seventh-grade student at Maurice Bowling Middle School,
is recognized and honored for outstanding athletic performance
as a member of both the Owen County High School Cross Country
and Track and Field Teams that resulted in this talented athlete
capturing second place honors at the Class A State Cross Country
Meet and being named Class A First Team All-State and the All-Middle
School Team, the Area 4 Girls Team and the Girls Academic All-State
Team. Inasmuch as Danielle Hoop has demonstrated great heart,
remarkable athletic ability, and has brought well-deserved recognition
to her school, community and this great Commonwealth by the effort

congratulations for this notable achievement; and on the motion
of Senator Damon Thayer is hereby deemed by this honorable body
most worthy of recognition.”
Hoop is currently an eighth-grader. The first cross country meet
