Historical Society meeting is Thursday

The Owen County Historical Society will hold its regular monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. Thursday with a potluck dinner. If weather permits, the meeting will be in the back yard of the museum; otherwise, it will be at the library as usual. Bonnie Strassell will be the guest speaker, portraying Jenny Wiley.
The museum is coming along slowly, but we’re getting there. We do encourage anyone who could give us a few hours of their time to join us. There are light jobs such as sorting through documents and putting them in plastic folders.
The six-county picnic was last week at the Switzerland County Historical Society in Vevay, Ind. Those attending from Owen County were Berta Gayle, Bobby and Stella Gibson, Peggy and Phillip Trinkle, Nancy Kahmann, Bill and Christie Kennedy and Jeannie Williams. Their two museums were beautiful with many artifacts, pictures and information on the new Ohio River Museum. The group enjoyed good food, fellowship and a program of singing and dulcimer-playing.
